Indra Aziz is a vocalist, saxophonist, actor, and vocal coach from Jakarta, Indonesia. Graduated from the Faculty of Arts of Trisakti in Jakarta, continued his music study in Farabi Music School (alto saxophone) and Institut Musik Daya (voice & tenor saxophone), Indra began singing and playing sax professionally since 2001, performing with his jazz group. Since his early musical career, Indra sang and played with many Indonesian jazz greats. Playing in jazz festivals and concerts such as Java Jazz Festival (every single one), Jak Jazz Festivals, Pasar Jazz, SerambiJazz, and many other jazz events throughout Indonesia.
In March 2006, Indra got nominated for AMI awards 2006, the Indonesian grammy, for “best production in jazz.” For his single Jakarta City Blues, an acapella arrangement using only Indra’s voice, layered, and improvised, about the big manggo, Jakarta. In November 2008, Indra was granted with “Jazz Rising Star” award from the Jazz Goes To Campuss Awards Comitee.
As a vocal coach Indra has helped train the voices of many celebrity singers in Indonesia’s music scene, some of them are Agnez Mo, Titi DJ, Raisa, Afgan, Rossa, Angga (Maliq & D’Essentials), Andien, and more. He is also the vocal coach for the very successful reality show Indonesian Idol & X-Factor Indonesia on RCTI TV, and also Indonesia Mencari Bakat Trans TV, Nez Academy NET TV and The Voice Kids on Global TV. Indra is active giving vocal and music workshops not just in Jakarta, but also in Surabaya, Jember, Bali, Semarang, and other cities. Indra gave a 4 week jazz vocal workshop series, and a 4 week broadway workshop series in @america (US Embassy’s cultural center in Jakarta), in Pacific Place Mall. Indra is also the vocal trainer for SESPARLU, diplomat school of Indonesian Foreign Ministry.
Indra with his company VokalPlus has released the popular vocal exercise CD “Bebaskan Suaramu” in January 2012, a vocal learning DVD “Workshop VokalPlus Bersama Indra Aziz” in 2013 and CD “Senam Vokal” in 2016. Now vokalplus.com website is a place for singers to showcase their work and interact.
